Pink Fairy

For our Halloween party last year, I improvised a pink fairy costume for my daughter. She wanted so much to be a fairy, so I made her one. A frugal mom as I am, I didn't spend a dime for her costume (well, only 0.99$). Here's how she looked like:

For her simple pink fairy wings, I made it out of recycled wire coat hangers and dressed it with her old pink sheer stockings. Then I sprinkled it with pink glitters and attached a golden colored ribbon for her back. I just made this few hours before the party. Here's what the simple pink fairy wing looked like:

For her dress, she wore her pink ballet leotard, pink ballet tights and pink ballet shoes. For her pink skirt, a good friend gave her this for her birthday, so she finally got the opportunity to wear this lovely fuschia pink belly dancing skirt. For her tiara, good thing she still had some left from her 8th birthday party, so we didn't have to buy one.

hail the pink fairy!
with her improvised fairy costume!
and she totally enjoyed her cute and simple pink attire!

Indeed, everybody had a blast that fun night especially our little pink fairy!

No strings attached

The new school year is out here and the kids were screaming out for new school supplies. Mommy Kate, in her desire to teach the value of frugality convinced them to get contented with their slightly used stuffs. However, the kids squealed more for an updated school supplies. The Mommy, then remembering her own childhood days of course understood how it felt.

Everybody hates to end the vacation and having new stuffs to parade around at school is fair enough to get excited LOL. So the Mommy, as not to upset the Dad, sneakily bought her kids new sets of clothes, shoes and school supplies.

When the Dad found out later, he was not so thrilled especially upon knowing the total not-in-the-budget cost incurred. To diffuse the situation, the Mommy revealed she received some bonus, more than enough to cover all her shopping expenses. So the Dad, satisfied with the news, just let the issue go.

Three days later after the classes resumed, Mommy received a big blow. The kindergarten school that took her little girl in told her their mistake. They said they just realized that Mommy's daughter is a foreigner, hence she needs to pay an additional 5600$nt more for the tuition fee. Ouch! Mommy was flabbergasted.

Mommy was indeed beyond pleased when she received an extra amount of money falling from air, but then in a blink of an eye she would have to see it drained down the hole. Isn't that ironic! The problem was ~ there's nothing left to drain. *sad*

When the Dad learned about it, then goes the familiar word "I told you so". So the sad Mommy once again realized~ some money comes and then it goes. It lingers for a while, but still it goes. No strings attached.

Hi! Just dropping by! Bye!

Frugal fashionista

I always love fashion. Whenever I got the chance, I would indulge myself to a cute fashionable dress or cute shoes on trend or with some lovely accessories. However, though I love wearing trendy get-ups, I only buy them when on sale. Such is the price to pay when we already have adorable growing kids on tow, with their own sets of needs. I love to dress them with cutee clothes too. I often marvel how fast they grow and that how often I need to update their wardrobes, again signing up the help of discounted apparels. I don’t mind window shopping though, in fact I love it.  Acquiring a good buy makes me feel good.  I know, I’m such a frugal fashionista. :)
